De Stoïcijnen streefden naar innerlijke rust en apatheia wat betekent vrijheid van storende emoties. Emoties zoals woede, jaloezie of angst ontstaan volgens hen uit irrationele oordelen. Uiteraard is het de korte flitsduur die zorgt voor de scherpte en de bevriezing van de vogel. Druk je op het goede moment af en elke vogel wordt een Stoïcijn, bevrijd van storende emoties. Ik houd van traagheid en aandacht – van tijdloosheid en verstilling en de raadselachtigheden van het (natuurkundige) leven.
[ Stoic Bird – The Stoics sought inner peace and apatheia which means freedom from disturbing emotions. Emotions such as anger, jealousy or fear, according to them, arise from irrational judgments. Of course, it is the short flash duration that provides the sharpness and freezing of the bird. Print at the right moment and every bird becomes a Stoic, liberated from disturbing emotions. I love slowness and attention – of timelessness and stillness and the enigmas of (physical) life. ]
